New Jack City Trip Report
April 21st, Walter & I went to NJC to climb. He posted a great report on the ridgecrestclimbers site. As a very minor and not too important update to Walter’s great trip report I would like to add:I didn’t redpoint the Step Across-that was an onsight. The other two routes I lead that day (Route 66 and Welcome to New Jack were redpoints as I had onsighted both those while out with Haley a few weeks ago). And, the 5.9 was a flash cause Walter got the onsight.
Also, I pansied out of climbing after 4 pitches because my elbow started hurting. So, even though I’m a “fit 20 something woman” I still got outclimbed by my 50+ year old male counterpart!
It is really silly to expect Walter to keep track of those minor details, when the guy had such a fantastic day of climbing!!! I just thought I’d put in a little post to addend the record books 8^)
Even with his extra weight/years, he continues to push himself out there, and it’s just pure fun to watch/hear. Keeping it G rated- while climbing Little Red Book, he sounded something like, “Gawl Darned it, Gee willackers, Well I’ll be, Good Golly Ms. Molly”!
But seriously folks, I was SO happy to be out there to see him get that milestone-1001 pitches-PHENOMENAL! Wish you all could have been there too!

Kudos to Walter! I’m not sure if I’ve hit 101 yet!

Thanks Cyberhobo. Clare helped me out on 167 of those pitches. Almost 20% of my climbing.
