Relocation to Denver - Day 4

A Small Section of Wall Street crag in Moab Roadside Climbing at it's best! We Made Friends in Moab

Holly & I woke up to sub-freezing temperatures. She took an early morning stroll while I slept in. Around 10 am we headed out, stopping in on this rad cafe in downtown Moab. I got a bagel sandwhich-jalepeno cheese & egg on a wheat bagel. YUMMY. We were at the crag, Wall Street around 11am. The sun had barely started warming the rock. It was freezing to the touch, not to mention inside the crack! We walked up and down the wall, with the guidebook.

About an hour later, we ran into a couple young climber dudes. They were setting up on “30 Seconds Over Potash” a really sustained, classic 5.8. We didn’t want to crowd them, but watched as they worked the lower, and then middle crux. After the one dude was done, his partner lead it as well. Then they were nice enough to let me take a ride on it and trail our rope.

It was COLD. My fingers were pretty much numb, even with the handwarmer in my chalkbag. I think the high was in the low 40s. I was soooo happy I decided not to lead.

The young dudes, moved on to the next climb called “Lucy In the Sky with Potash” a neat looking 5.10a. They offered to let us take a ride, but by that time I had enough of freezing. We both decided hiking would be a more enjoyable pursuit, and declined. SAD to not be able to climb more, but with it being so wickedly cold, I couldn’t take it.

Holly took me on a fantastic hike, which wrapped around this massive Navajo Sandstone formation. Eventually, we were on top, looking down to Moab and out to the Colorado, the Uiuintas (sp?), and beautiful desert environs. Amazing!

After the hike, we drove back to town, and just for fun we stopped off at the wreck center. We were just in time for a yoga session, what a perfect way to end our day! And it was free to boot!
