It does feel scary, but only because we're so new. I have completely forgotten what it's like to be 12. Emma is taking me back in time. In some ways I feel very old, but in others I feel more invigorated. What a neat little girl!

Wow! Best of luck to all of you in your new roles. Of course your upheaval is interesting to us safe out here in the internets, but I'm sure it feels a little scary. Thanks for sharing.

It went well, for a first day it was everything I would expect. The one thing I like is the simplicity. With the Chaco's I'm constantly picking pebbles out, and adjusting the straps. But with these, there is only one thing to tighten, and it is very easy.

I've since done several hikes in my VFFs, and I really love them. I did Princeton in them, and for 9 miles, they were just great. I changed into my hiking boots on around the 10th mile, because my ankles were getting fatigued and we were utterly lost...big adventure!

I think with all the hiking you do, you would really dig them. It's like being barefoot, but with a little protection for the skin.

I'm curious about those shoes, how did it go? I'm guessing that it might take a while to get used to them, but you might grow to love 'em.
