Relocating to Denver - Day 1

Clare Leaving the Past Behind Holly & Clare ready to Embark

I woke up super early in the morning, and finished arranging things for the move. I had to fit whatever was left into my truck and still have room for the cats, Holly, our bags, and climbing gear. When Dennis got the job out in Denver, I knew right away I wanted to take a road trip out there instead of having my truck & the cats shipped.

I met Holly at the south end of Ridgecrest and soon we were packing up the truck. I had hoped to be out of the house early, but we didn’t make it out until lunch! I’m so happy Holly helped me pack my truck. We even practiced putting on chains (just in case) and my neighbor Al came over and gave his 2 cents about our chain placement. Seems we did a good job, cause after about 20 minutes-we were dismantling them and saying goodbye to Al.

When I first thought of this trip a few people came to mind, but Holly was destined to join me. We had a few adventures together last summer, and it seems adventure brings her into my life 8^) If I ever decide to skydive, I’d be signing up for the trip when she’d come waltzing in…that’s just how we seem to flow.

I was sad inside to be leaving Ridgecrest, at the end I thought I’d be in a better mood! Ridgecrest was a fantastic experience for me, workwise very fulfilling. I made some friends for life-desert solitude brings folks together in a way that larger townships do not. I knew I’d be missing them all and I was dwelling on that instead of what was to come. With Holly around though, my spirits picked up immediately. She is infectiously happy-I LOVE IT.

The Screaming Orgasm served at Sushi Fever, Las Vegas Seasonal Specialty served at Sushi Fever...Apple Roll

Our schedule for today was to stop off in Apple Valley to say bye to Grandma, Mom, Meera, and Emma, then drive to Vegas, and eat at my favorite restaurant Sushi Fever. Here are a couple pictures. One on the left is a “Screaming Orgasm” and is just lovely. Freshly seared fish on a bed of japanese radish, with a vinagrette sauce and sesame/green onions sprinkled on top.

The one on the right is a seasonal specialty, it had salmon, tuna, yellowtail, and avocado wrapped in a green apple. Delicious! Holly & I filled up on sushi, and had a great time. We were full of healthy and clean food, ready for the road trip ahead.
