On Monday, exhausted after two days of activity, we decided to do a scenic drive. We had heard rumors about the drive from Banff to Jasper, so we thought it would be a nice way to spend our rest day.
This drive is the most beautiful drive I’ve ever experienced…and we just barely made it to Jasper National Park!
We reached the Columbia Icefields, just in time for the cafeteria to close (it was around 6pm). We did get to see the exhibits about glaciers though, which we all thought were rather informative and interesting.
By the way, once one enters the National Parks, there are not a whole lot of choices for food. It’s a good idea to have something packed in the car, or just plan on eating snack food from the few meager rest stops along the way!
This is a topo of the Columbia Icefield, it’s huge!
We decided we should head back to Banff, where we could get some grubb and enjoy the hot springs.
Turns out, Banff has very low to mediocre Thai food. I would not recommend it, for our food was really oily, lacked flavor, and was not spicy at all. In fact, it was pretty bland and salty.
I did like the Hot Springs in Banff, although for 7 dollars, I’m not sure! I was expecting a little more infrastructure. But, instead, they just had one large pool. (I was picturing a more spa like setting, with pampering and separate bathing areas outside).
Everything about Banff is designer, except the Hot Springs. Hmmmm, interesting.
