Glenmore Forest Park,Cairngorms – Day 7 – Hiking

Ryvoan Trek - Scotland Forestry Topo Map

Clare & Dennis at Loch a Gharbh-choire
Woke up to windy and rainy weather, so we decided to do a bit of hiking and go for a drive. We drove to Loch Morlich, in the Glenmore Forest Park and bought a hiking map at the visitor’s center. A really nice guy named Allan sold us a map and recommended we give the Ryvoan Hike a whirl. The Ryvoan hike is 4.5 miles and generally takes a couple hours to do. We decided to extend the hike a couple miles by going over the Ryvoan Pass to Loch Gharbh-choire.

We then drove out to the Macallan Distillary, but missed the last tour. We tasted a couple samples in the Macallan gift shop and then bought some very expensive scotch. They had a special casking at Easter this year, whereby only a certain number number of bottles were produced.

Finished the day with dinner at a fantastic pizza joint, and a drenching 6 mile run. Dinner at La Taverna was particularly delightful. We had a creamed spinach with poached egg and pizza with cheese and capers. And, of course, half pints of local cider!
