This weekend, Dennis & I headed back to Las Vegas to join some of our old buddies at the Lucky 7 Ultimate Tournament. They needed some more players to round out the team. Disco Elvis in the past has been great to play with so we said, “Sign us up!”.
We played 4 games on Saturday. We were in contention for game 2, but the other teams just blew us away. We played a team from Salt Lake City, Inland Empire, Los Angeles, and San Diego. Several talented teams, with a breezy day gave us a challenge. We had a good day, but it would have been better if there were five more dudes on the team. Fresh legs were a commodity we were short of!
On Sunday, only five members dragged themselves out of bed to play. So we challenged our rivals to play five on five. Amazingly the five of us gave them a run for their money, and it was obvious who the “core” players on our team were! Sundays game ended in about an hour, which gave me time to visit with some of the folks I had met at the tourney. Oh, and the cops had to come in order to kick off soccer players who would not relinquish the fields to us. We had done the paperwork to get permits for the fields, and they were stubborn about leaving. So the cops came and gave them the boot!
