Red River Gorge - Trip Report
It had been too long a time since I climbed at the RRG (Red River Gorge), and so I flew back to climb with Barry. We had gorgeous weather on Friday (mid 60s), not so great weather Sat (mid 40s) and contrary weather (low 30s) on Sunday. It was the first time I stayed at True North Outfitters Hostel, instead of the comforts of a private cabin. It turned out a group of folks from MI came down and met Barry & I, and rooming with them was fun.
Jeff, Roxanne, Margaret, Kim & Bob, Barry, and I rounded out the posse. On Friday we climbed at Muir Valley, the Gallery Wall and on Saturday, we climbed at Inner Sanctum.
On Friday, I climbed the following super cool routes:
The King Lives On 5.10b *** (L)
Johnny B Good 5.11a ** (L)
Murano 5.10b (L)
A Brief History (F)
Davinci’s Left Ear 5.10b (L)
Smack Dab 5.11b (F)
27 Years of Climbing 5.8 (L)
On Saturday, I climbed:
Neitzen Hacktivist 5.9 **** (F) It was wet, not that great!
Naughty Neighbors 5.10d *** (F)
Bad Company 5.10b *** (F)
Then, my elbow started smarting, so I stopped for the day.
On Sunday, we went to Roadside at RRG and I climbed AWOL 5.10a **** (TR). IT was maybe 32 degrees, and wicked cold. So we went hiking (Barry, Jeff, and I) at the Natural Bridge State Park. It was Easter, so there were all these folks dressed to the nines hiking around, and then us dirtbags-made for some funny looks from the locals!
