On Saturday, Dennis and I drove up to Winter Park for an awesome bluebird day!
We went to Rise and Shine bakery to start the day out right with a hearty breakfast. We were pleasantly surprised to see the place has expanded and, even better, we were seated at a warm table in the back. It used to be really cramped and cold no matter where you got seated! The food was as good as ever and we left there with smiles and full bellies.
It’s time to Ride/Ski! I dropped Dennis off at the Winter Park ski resort and then head over to Snow Mountain Ranch.
I skied about 8 miles at the park, with almost perfect conditions. It was amazing. I had been there three weeks ago, at the end of December, so it was my second time this season. I decided to check out Keenan, Homestead, Lynch, and Cranmer trails. Here are some pictures:
Skiing Up Keenan (One of my favs).
Intersection of Lynch and Cranmer (Don’t ski up Cranmer, it’s aweful)…go up Keenan then Down Cranmer!
Looking back at the very top and final mellow bit of Cranmer. Just out of frame, it is exceptionally steep and nasty – the start of Cranmer hill.
I never get tired of this amazing view! The James Peak Wilderness is snow covered and brilliant!
After 3.5 hours of skiing, I went back to the lodge and had lunch. Since I wasn’t picking up Dennis until later, I even had some time to read après ski! What a superb day in the Rockies!
