On Sunday, midday, I met with Jen & Jason for a trip to Boulder Canyon. We had selected Plotinus Wall for it’s Southern exposure, and it’s proliferation of sport climbs.
We climbed from about 1:30pm to 6:30pm (Thank goodness for the extra hour of daylight!). In the five hours, we managed to climb the following 4 routes :
I tried leading the first one, but was confounded by the crux, a long reach to a crimp. I came down, not mentally ready for battle. I was fairly worn out from the cross country episode the day before, so I decided to give myself a break. Jason was all to happy to be the leader, so it worked out well.
There were several parties at the crag, but no problems coordinating routes. The Plotinus Crag is in a pretty spot, right above the Boulder Creek, but far enough from the road that you don’t hear the drone of the cars.
The only thing that worried me was the teenagers who were freeing (by accident?) watermelon sized boulders and whooping as the rock trundled down the canyon, across the way. I silently prayed that nobody would get hurt.
