On Sunday morning, way before the sun came up, I drove over to the West Side of Denver. My goal was to join Kris in his summit bid for Mt. Sherman (14,026 ft).
I had no idea what to expect; I hadn’t prepared as I normally do. All I had done was read Kris’ email, which just mentioned meeting him sometime around 5am.
Lucky for me, Mt. Sherman is just about the easiest 14’er, short of driving up Mt. Evans…
At 6:40am, we started hiking. We took short breaks for sunscreen, drinks, clothing adjustments, and pictures.
At 7:30am, we reached a ridge with scree & snow.

At 8:30am, we reached the summit. We took some fun pictures, had a snack, and headed back down.
Glad we started early…these folks got caught in some weather!
At 10:15 we were back at the car. Not bad, 3.5 hours for a 14’er! It was super fun to bag a peak so easily, but I’m happy not all of them are such give aways.
