It was a chilly morning, so we all gathered around the fire trying to get it started. The wood was even harder to get started as there was a little rain in the early morning.
I noticed the Trader Joe’s bag had been infiltrated. A small 2 inch hole was carved out of the bottom corner, and the same hole was in the ziploc bag. Mice like homemade bread, enough to eat plastic!
For breakfast we had pancakes, left over dumplings, and ramen soup. It was cold, and the hot food warmed us up since the fire was completely inadequate.
Emma ran around the campsite with the camera and took the above two pictures…cool!
After the food, we packed up camp and headed out for Arch Rock. I decided multi-pitch wasn’t really an option since I had Emma with me, and she doesn’t know how to lead belay yet…So, I was interested in some single pitch stuff.
We started out climbing around the area where the Arch Rock Regular Route exists. We soon discovered we were not in the right location, and then moved northward.
The Hollow Flake (5.6) was not occupied, so we hopped on it. Kris ran up it, followed by Steve. Then, I cleaned it and Emma Top Roped it.
By this time Emma was getting tired of reading, and wanted to scramble on the rocks. I decided it would be best if we took a little hike to the top of Arch Rock (in the future, I’d at least know the downclimb!).
We headed back to the car, and got our hiking shoes on for the hike to the top. Kris & Steve walked by, on their way to Elevenmile Dome for some more sport climbing. We said our goodbyes, and headed up the gully on the West side of the dome.
The hike up was pretty mellow, a few third class moves, but most of it was on a trail.
We got to the top of Arch Rock and took a bunch of pictures and enjoyed the scenery.
