Kris Starting Hollow Flake (5.6)

Goofing off on Arch Rock
It was a chilly morning, so we all gathered around the fire trying to get it started. The wood was even harder to get started as there was a little rain in the early morning.

I noticed the Trader Joe’s bag had been infiltrated. A small 2 inch hole was carved out of the bottom corner, and the same hole was in the ziploc bag. Mice like homemade bread, enough to eat plastic!

For breakfast we had pancakes, left over dumplings, and ramen soup. It was cold, and the hot food warmed us up since the fire was completely inadequate. (more…)

DSCN1881
I had so much fun at Elevenmile Canyon last month, I decided to go back once more before winter. Steve & Kris were both game to join us for the weekend, so we were sure to have a fun time. Emma & I jumped in the Subi and took off for the granite domes.

Elevenmile Canyon, CO

We arrived at the mouth of Elevenmile at around 3pm, and it was clear there were no open sites available. All the walk-ins were taken. Darn! The ranger informed us that there was a campsite (Blue Mountain) which was just 1 mile down the road.

Dennis Preparing Camp
We ended up with this lovely site (#8), at Blue Mountain. It is a great site for a group. We were able to park all 4 cars, no problem. (Of course, there was an extra fee for the two extra cars, but no biggie!). (more…)
