Day 10 – Rest Day in Cusco

Brenda woke up at 6am and I was up an hour later, so we could enjoy the last group breakfast with everybody. The next morning, a lot of folks were heading out…so we weren’t sure we’d be seeing them again. At breakfast, we all talked about activities for the day. Brenda, Lawrence, Alex, Fiona, and decided to take a rest day while the others were going rafting down the Urubumba.

After breakfast, Brenda and I stopped off at an internet cafe to find a company who would take us mountain biking the following day. We located a place, called Reserv Cusco near the Plaza De Armas and walked over there.

Manager Arturo Medina met us and went over a potential itinerary which was in line with our expectations and ability. We explained we were looking for something moderate with nice views and nothing too strenuous. He claimed to have just the right thing for us and was very excited to give us the details. We gave him a small deposit and agreed to come back at 9am the next morning. (more…)

Day 4 – Cusco Archeological Ruins Tour

On Friday morning, Brenda and I met the rest of the Exodus tour group at breakfast. They were all from the UK: Laurence and his son, Alex, Alasdair, Ciaran, Alasdair G., Alex H., Steve, and Fiona. It was a lively and talkative bunch and I knew we were all going to get along just grand. (more…)

Day 2 – Lima to Cusco

We got up rather early and had breakfast at the hotel. It was mediocre. At 8am we went across the street to the airport and hit the atm/money exchange for some soles. We waited for 3 hours for our plane. It was really late.

When we boarded, we realized we were in the business class and we were the only ones. It was amazing. We had the entire front section of the plane to ourselves. Neato. They made us check our bags, so it was a little odd we thought, considering all the space. Oh well. One nice thing about business class was the service. We were pampered and we got a nice brunch to boot!
