Dennis and I flew to Seattle so I could run the Deception Pass 50K Trail Running Race on Whidbey Island. I was so psyched to be running single track in such a beautiful location! Deception Pass State Park is a MUST do on anybody’s trip to the north west, and I was soon to be conquering it’s trails!

Prior to the race, we spend a day in Seattle to have breakfast with Jon and Melissa, visit and schmooze with my work colleagues and management, and see the Space Needle. It was a cloudy day, but that didn’t stop us from enjoying the view!

Dr. Trenberth, from NCAR, gave an excellent presentation on Climate and Global Warming.

Dennis and I attended the CMC Boulder group Annual Dinner. The evening starts with a potluck feast then moves onto voting in of new board members, presentation of awards, and ends with the keynote speaker. The food was awesome, the camaraderie was excellent, and Dr. Trenberth capped off the evening with an intriguing presentation of Climate and Global Warming.

Erin’s Birthday and Our Bar Opening Party

We celebrated Erin turning 29 and opened our new home bar! What a fun evening. There was a Bison Chili station, with shredded cheese, fried onion bits, and Flaming Dix Pineapple salsa. For the grazers out there, appetizers such as; deviled eggs, veggie tray, cheese and crackers, cookies, and cream puffs graced our kitchen island.

To top it off, three flavors of home brewed beer, courtesy of the birthday girl, was provided! My favorite was the French roast stout, followed by the red headed (called so because of the ginger!) pumpkin ale, followed by the standard stout.

This Halloween, Joan and Dan had a fantastic costume party at their Victorian House. Ever the awesome hostess, Joan supplied ample tasty morsels all with a Halloween theme. We came dressed up as Zombies and had a lot of fun getting into character!

Social Event – OSU vs. UW, Columbus, OH

We decided to take a long weekend and head to Columbus, Ohio. Our friends, Justin and Crystal, moved back there after a stint in Denver. We were psyched to visit with them, tool around Columbus, and see OSU play UW. Since Red is my favorite color, I was excited to see over 100K people all dressed in Red! (more…)
