Buckwheat Gets Groomed

Friday, April 8th, 2011

Buckwheat Before
We have been cutting dreads off of Buckwheat for quite some time now, so finally I thought we should just have him groomed. It was a spur of the moment decision. I took Buckwheat to a groomer and asked for a “Lion” cut. A friend of our had once done this to their Maine Coone and it was really “cute”. Well, you can judge for yourself, but this is what he ended up with…
Buckwheat After
When I brought Buckwheat home, our other cat, Moby, freaked out. He acted as if Buckwheat was a completely new cat. It has now been a week, and the two are finally able to exist in the same room. But, the whole week they have been fighting, hissing, biting, clawing, and generally in constant combat with each other. We have not had any sleep, and had to separate them at night.

Needless to say, no more hair cuts! Ever. Hiss!Growl!Spit!

Dennis Saves Our Garden

Tuesday, May 11th, 2010

Last weekend it was warm, so we planted our garden.

Well, in Colorado, it can snow *anytime*! And, it *will* snow when one is least prepared or suspecting.

Gardening

Saturday, May 8th, 2010

With the start of May and presumably warmer weather, Dennis & I built a new raised bed for our garden. A 3 foot by 12 foot addition would more than double the square footage of our space. I was psyched to get ‘er done.

We are DINKS Again

Friday, April 9th, 2010

After 8 months of pseudo-parenting, the job came to an end. More abrubtly than it started. We had 5 days notice of the onset, but only 48 hours for the conclusion. Irreconcilable Differences. C’est La Vie.

Emma flew back to CA on Friday night. She cheerfully walked through security, with older sister, Meera, lagging behind. We waved goodbye and shouted, “We love you. You will be missed. Work hard and behave.”
