ACL Surgery

July 14th, 2011

Dennis Post ACL
Dennis had ACL Surgery on July 14. He hurt it 2 days after we got back from Scotland. After a barrage of tests, it was determined surgery was his best bet.

He has since had the surgery and is making a strong recovery! Our friend, Jen, loaned us a Cryo Cuff, which is God’s Greatest Gift to those with knee injuries! We are super thankful to have this device as it has really helped. THANKS, JEN!

Rock Climbing – Icarus in Eldorado Canyon

July 9th, 2011

Climbergirl on Icarus (5.6)
I climbed Icarus (5.6) with Ryan on Saturday. He was the ropegun and did an excellent job! I was aiming to lead the higher up pitches, but when some wind and questionable clouds broke out…I caved. Glad Ryan was willing to step up and take the sharp end.

We did the walk off the East Slabs. He said later that the first time he did it, he thought, “Never again!”. But I guess he changed his mind.

What an adventure we had getting down those slabs! I think we topped out around 1pm but it took us 2 hours to get back to the car. Crazy!

That way is not, in my mind, a viable option. Just think if there was a storm, it would turn into a veritable near vertical slip-n-slide! Those slabs feature serious downclimbing and should not be done unless one knows where to go. Thankfully, we were able to figure it out.

We celebrated our success at Old Chicago with some cold ones and lunch. Just as we toasted, there was a crash/boom and the heavens let loose! Whew!

Rock Climbing – Bakerdango (5.6) – CMC

July 1st, 2011

I climbed Bakerdango, a combination of Baker’s Way and Fandango, for the third time. The climb is part of an effort to become a rock climbing leader with the CMC Boulder group. It was my first co-lead and I have one more to go. Rick followed Brenda and Dave followed me. We ladies were the ropeguns…boo-ya! Read the rest of this entry »

Day Hike – Bison Peak, Lost Creek Wilderness

June 19th, 2011

In the slideshow above, I tried to capture the essence of our day hike up Bison Peak, in the Lost Creek Wilderness. It was an amazing hike and included wild rock formations and gorgeous views. Our CMC group spanned many decades, with the youngest member being a teen and the oldest member in their 60s!

Surprisingly, we had many common interests. By the end of the day, I had compiled a booklist of good reads based upon our conversations. I know I am forgetting some of the suggestions, but here is a sample:

Snow Lion
Royal Road to Romance ? (Halliburton)
Rescues in the Rockies (same author as the Colorado 14’er disasters)
East of Eden
Lady Tasting Tea (This was my suggestion)
The Man Who Loved China (Also my suggestion)
