When I was in grade school, I remember having a half day candy exchange and a costume party at school for Halloween. It was a day I looked forward to with great excitement. My parents did not believe in artificial sugar or color in a humans diet. The school holiday was my one exemption from a year long suppression of sugary sweets.
At Emma’s school, they have something called “Fall Break”. I’m not sure if it just happens to coincide with Halloween, or if it is on purpose. In any event, she had 28-30th of October OFF! Thus, the school entirely avoided Halloween. No dealings with costumes or candy. What clever administrators. (more…)
