On Saturday, Rachel & I climbed Birdland (5.7), a nouveau classic multipitch wonder. I had been researching climbs all week. When I suggested the list of possibilities, she immediately responded positively at the utterance of the word “Birdland”. She had done it last October and was certain that I would enjoy the climb. Saturday, April 11th, 2009On Saturday, I woke up to cold & wet weather. Not a great combination for climbing. It was 38 dF at my house, and I grumpily called Jen. We had a short 10 minute conversation which resulted in no immediate decision. I was still coughing up aliens from a recent cold, and she was dead tired after a poor nights sleep. (more…)

Rock Climbing – Boulder Canyon
Sunday, March 15th, 2009On Sunday, after a full day climbing at Shelf, I yanked myself out of bed and drove up to Boulder Canyon. I met Stan at the huge pullout, and we drove up to Boulder Falls. It was a return trip to Plotinus Wall.

Saturday, March 14th, 2009
On Pie Day (March 14=3.14 Ha-ha), Stan rounded up the posse for a day trip to Shelf Road. Initially, we were all supposed to camp there, but reports of potentially bad weather turned it into a day trip. As luck would have it, the weather was absolutely perfect!

Posse: Brooke & Jason, Jen, Stan & doggies (Kona & Misha), and myself.
Weather: Just wonderful, high felt around 70 with a cool breeze
Crag: Cactus Cliffs
Special Surprise: Jen’s homemade brownies
