Awww How Cute...Climbergirl and her Man Walter Runs up Walk in the Park

On Sunday morning, Walter picked Dennis & I up in his ultra comfy Honda CRV. We drove the 2 hours to NJC. They talked about football whilst I nodded off. We reached the crag around 10am. There were a few scattered vehicles there, but our wall “Sunnyside” was void of climbers.

“Woo-hoo, what luck, we’ve got the wall to ourselves!”, we marvelled. However, just as we had finished warming up on the apptly named 5.8 “Walk in the Park”, my fears were realized. Suddenly, a group of 6 climbers and 3 dogs shows up. (more…)

On Friday, Dennis & I met up with Pond Specialist and climbing enthusiast Paul for some NJC climbing. I met Paul while waiting in line at a close-out sale at Copeland’s Sporting Goods. Turns out that among his many talents is a penchant for climbing-and a keen interest in improving as a leader. (more…)

Alabama Hills – Trip Report

Wednesday, December 6th, 2006

On Wednesday, I took a much needed break and went out to climb. Since I would be going on travel for work, I needed to go out and touch some rock. Tom R. joined me for a jaunt up to Alabama Hills. The scheduled high was 64 degrees, so we were looking for sun.

I do not know the names of all the routes we climbed, but we managed to find sun at the Tall Wall, the Alabama Dome, and The Candy Store. We did 8 moderate climbs in all, and had a great day, even though it was chilly in the morning and when we were in the shade. I do not have pictures since it was just the two of us 8^) All in all a great day.

After climbing, I decided to go out and play some Ultimate. It was a lot colder after the sun went down! But, I had a lot of fun running around and playing some tenacious Defense. With very little wind, and a speedy group, it was a great night of disc. And, good practice for Lucky 7s, a tournament I got roped into in Vegas.

Apple Valley Climbing Vista Changing Forms 5.10 (-) Pirate Pica

On Veteran’s Day, Walter, Dennis, & I headed off for some warm Apple Valley climbing. The drive down went smooth, and before we knew it, we were at the parking lot. A very large dirt lot-as the gate into the park was locked.

We climbed 6 routes at the wall, ignoring a wide 5.7 crack. The climbs were all pretty short, but each provided their own special challenge. (more…)
