Dennis’ Prime Birthday

Friday, April 3rd, 2009

Dennis is in his Prime again, now that he’s 6^2 + 2^2 + 1. To celebrate, we went to see John Pinette at the Improv. I’m so happy Dennis got tickets, as this guy is *really* funny. We both had such an arduous work-week (Dennis is in a vamped up stage of Testing and I contracted a cold!).

John’s performance covered such topics as:
Healthful Living-Juicers, Range Fed Meat, and Colon Cleansing
Experiences in a Buffet-“Get out of the Line”, Questions People Ask When It’s “Their Turn”, and Midnight Buffets
Scotland-The translation of the scot’s meaning of “Ten Minute Walk”, Rain-Ups, and Haggis
Turnips-A scary personal episode, How God Messed Up in Making Them a “Food Item”, and how the Scots tried tricking him into eating them by calling them “Neeps”

Dennis & I both laughed so hard we hurt our stomachs…John was a fabulous performer, and if you have a chance to see him, please do!

Marcus & Nick Below Kissing Camels Formation Nick & Marcus Chilling in the Shade of Three Graces

Nick, Clare, and Marcus Strike a Pose at Air Force Chappel

After the indoor rock climbing and a full day of snowboarding at Loveland, the nephews needed a day off. Dennis & I decided to take them down to Colorado Springs to visit Garden of the Gods & the Air Force Chapel.

We listened to Cartalk and Wait Wait Don’t Tell Me! in the car on the way down. They hadn’t heard of these radio shows, and I think they enjoyed listening. I just love Cartalk, and since they work on their motorcycles all the time, I thought they might like it too. (more…)

My First Hockey Game

Clare & Dennis at Avalanche Game
Dennis & I went to see the Denver Avalanche play the Calgary Flames. He had scored some rad seats through work, so we were pretty close to the ice.

Avalanche loses to Flames 1-0
All in all, I thought the experience was pretty fun. The Flames were just too good for the Avs…they were bigger, better, and faster on the ice. It was like watching a college team play a highschool team. I guess the only saving grace for the Avs was that they held the Flames to only one goal.

Still, I was sad that they couldn’t muster a goal for themselves. Didn’t they know that *I* came to watch them? Didn’t they know that it was *my* first hockey game? Aren’t they supposed to cater to their *fans*? Just joking, I’m hardly a hockey fan. Heck, I don’t even understand all the rules!

Jon & Jiji Red Rocks
Late Friday, Sept 12, I picked up Jon & Jiji at DIA. I left Margaret & Barry at home with Dennis, after we all had dinner of Pad Thai. It would be a full house this weekend; thank goodness for our finished basement!

Jon Blends into the scenary

I was totally excited about this weekend because it was J&J’s first visit since we moved to Denver, AND because Barry, Jon, & I would be able to work out the last minute kinks for our upcoming trip to Morocco. (more…)

Our Animated New Belgium Tour Guide

The Denver New Mexico Tech Alumni Chapter had a meeting in Fort Collins and then toured the New Belgium Brewery. I did not attend NMT, but am a spousal affiliate. Besides, “Techies” are usually good people to hang with as they are generally good natured and sufficiently nerdy. (more…)
