I dropped the guys off at Copper Mountain and then went to Frisco Nordic Center. I went to Butterhorn Bakery for breakfast. Then, I traipsed all over the trails at Frisco, enjoying the fresh powder for the next 4 hours. Got a call from Dennis at 2:30pm, then I headed back to pick them up. It was my 3rd year participating in the annual Cross Country Ski & Waffles event. Dan M cooked a huge pile of golden waffles and we all devoured. After the feeding, we hit the trails for a wonderful 3 hour ski.
Lauren & I went cross country skiing in Cordillera, CO. It’s a gated community with a very nice community trail system. We skiied for 1.5 hours and Lauren’s doggies, Cookie Belle and Nibbles chased after us. They had a blast, and were oh-so-cute in their little red jackets. (more…)
On Saturday, Kelly, Mike, and I ventured up into the mountains to take advantage of the fresh powder. We left the Wooly Mammoth Park N Ride at 6:45am, a little on the late side (my bad!). There was an accident, so we didn’t make it to Frisco until nearly 8:30am.
We stopped at the Butterhorn Bakery for a most excellent breakfast. Yum! Kelly was excited as it would be her first day of nordic skiing.
Later, at the Frisco Nordic Center, we geared up for a wonderful day of cross country. Kelly did fabulous and Mike did a great job of coaching technique. We went ~7 miles before we all decided to call it a day! For more pictures: (more…)
On January 2nd, Dennis & I went cross country skiing with Dan F., Marcia, and Mike. The weather was okay, except a little snow blizzard that descended on us for about 30 minutes. We skiied for about 3 hours and went 8 miles. Above is the route & the topo map of our ski. By the way, I love my new Garmin Fortrex!
