Diablo Canyon Dylan Finishes Onsight of Class Act (5.10****)

On May 25th, we woke up, and had breakfast. Everybody packed up their items, and there was a search for sleeping bag bags. Since we were all camped out in the condo, several bags got misplaced. It was amusing. (more…)

Clare & Dennis at Pullout for Diablo Canyon
On May 24th, we got up and headed out for Diablo Canyon. We left for the crag in two cars, here’s to carpooling! Ann, Dylan, Kate, Mark, and Olivia piled into one Subi while Doug, Zack, Dennis & I piled into another. In about 30 minutes, we were off pavement and winding around gravel corners on the way to the canyon. (more…)

Tres Piedras Near Taos, NM

On May 22nd, before we headed to the Tres Piedras campground, we needed to grab some grub. We decided to visit our favorite grocer (Trader Joe’s) for the requisite camp foods.

In about an hour, we had filled our cooler with goodies (and stocked up on some shelf items for home). I was immensely sad because they did not have my favorite juice, Sir Strawberry.

After TJ’s, we touched base at the condo, and then followed Ann & Dylan over to lunch at Annapurnas, an ayrvadic/vegan restaurant. I got the most delicious Thai Stir Fried Veggies with Rice Noodles. The flavor was amazing, vegan food can be just as exciting as non-vegan food! Dennis was happy with his lunch as well. We got a yummy brownie to go…as a snack for later.

With food in our tummies & in the cooler, we headed up to Tres Piedras for the weekend. Clouds loomed ominously in the sky, but we decided to ignore them. I wanted to just be happy that we would be meeting our friends at a beautiful climbing area, fresh with possibility. (more…)

With crashpads in hand, we drove up to Chautauqua Park on the outskirts of Boulder. It was a gorgeous day, so there were teems of people, dogs, and automobiles. (more…)

Rock Climbing – Boulder Canyon

Sunday, March 15th, 2009

On Sunday, after a full day climbing at Shelf, I yanked myself out of bed and drove up to Boulder Canyon. I met Stan at the huge pullout, and we drove up to Boulder Falls. It was a return trip to Plotinus Wall.

The day started out warm & sunny. By the time we reached the crag, a chilly wind stirred. The sun danced in and out of clouds all day, as we went through wild hot and cold temperature fluxuations. I felt like we were in a lab, being put through quality testing…We were caught most off guard! (more…)
