RIP – Jiji

Jiji having a good time at Red Rocks
I feel obligated to write a little something about my brother’s ex-wife; who died at some dark hour between March 16-17th. Jiji decided to end the pain & suffering she had been dealing with her entire adult life. She could no longer cope so she did a dastard deed and jumped off a bridge. Portland has a myriad of bridges, so there was no way anybody could have helped her (even though she did attempt a phone call). (more…)

Trail Running – Golden Trail Runners

Sunday, March 14th, 2010

On Sunday morning, I woke up super early (day light savings made it feel even earlier!). I saw the sun rise as I drove out to Golden. I met Kemp, Phil, Brian, and Anne for a nice 1.5 hour jaunt up South Table Mountain.

The group jogged over to the trail head, and then we started climbing. I could feel my legs fatigued from hiking around the West Ridge the prior day. But, I thought, “I have to do this to train for the Grand Canyon!. It’s now only two months off, so this run is very important.” (more…)

Rock Climbing – Eldorado Canyon, West Ridge

Jenny & Clare Having Fun at Positively 4th Street (5.10-)
On Saturday, Jenny & I climbed at the West Ridge in Eldorado Canyon. It was forecasted to be mid 50, so I was psyched to get out. I hadn’t been climbing in Eldo in over a year (due to my back injury last summer). I could barely contain my excitement.

We both managed to fall into the creek on the way to the wall, but it was worth the wetness. We were the first to Washington Irving (5.6)! Right after we got there, scads of people arrived and all had to move on up the ridge because *we* were *first*!

Clare Having a Blast at Beaver Creek

My friend Kat was gracious to invite us up to her family’s condo in Avon, CO for the weekend. SO, we all piled into the Subaru; one man, three ladies, gear, food, and a dog! Dennis was excited to go boarding, and we girls were equally jazzed about the x-country.

The plan was to have a lovely weekend in the mountains and enjoy the snow. There would be skiing and cozy fireside chats. I was so excited! (more…)
