Snow Mountain Ranch

We went Cross Country Skiing at Snow Mountain Ranch, CO. This was going to be Emma’s 2nd time on skis and Dennis’ 3rd. I was more than excited to get out for the day.

We carpooled with a co-worker of mine, Mike. We met at the Mammoth Park & Ride, in Morrison at o’dark thirty. He drove and we dozed on and off. Then, we stopped in Winter Park at the Rise & Shine for some breakfast. (more…)

Cross Country Ski – Snow Mountain Ranch

At 5:50 am on Saturday, I left to meet Dan F. and Mike at the Wooly Mammoth Parking Carpool lot in Morrison. Our destination was YMCA of the Rockies Snow Mountain Ranch. Mike was kind enough to drive his van, so we had plenty of room. I quickly dozed off for an hour of much needed zzzz.

We arrived at the ranch, and had some muffins (courtesy of Mike). Mine was pineapple coconut, yummy! We saw the building open up, as staff started to sweep the porches. I headed down for the rental gear. I was fitted with intermediate Soloman ski’s and boots for classic skiing. (more…)

On Saturday, Dennis & I woke up super early and drove to the Mammoth Car Pool lot in Morrison. It was going to be his first Cross Country ski, and my second. I was all too excited. Devil’s Thumb Ranch was waiting… (more…)

My First Time…

Cross Country Skiing was at Frisco Nordic Center!

A bunch of guys from work enjoy x-country regularily, and invited me along. I met them up in Frisco at 7:30am in the morning. The drive up was a little perilous, after the tunnel, it started snowing and the ice was pretty bad on the road. Luckily, I only had to drive for a few miles in the bad conditions, and by the time I got to Frisco, there was a happy coating of snow over everything.

We met at a cafe, The Butterhorn Bakery in downtown Frisco. I had the cinnamon swirl french toast. It was delicious, except I didn’t really want either the bananas or the blueberries they heaped generously over the top. The guys were happy to help me eat those… (more…)
