Brenda and I climbed at Cadillac Crag in Eldorado Canyon. We climbed V3 (5.8) and Ghetto Cruiser (5.7). She was the ropegun and I was fine with it. I was still pretty exhausted from running the marathon the prior weekend. In fact, the hike up to the crag just about did me in! I was happy the routes were available and it wasn’t too hot. (more…)

Sunday, June 12th, 2011CMC Volunteer – Assistant Instructor for Rock Leader School
Saturday, June 11th, 2011
In the month of June, I donated 3 Saturdays to the Boulder section of the CMC (Colorado Mountain Club). I volunteered as an assistant instructor for their summer Rock Leader School. There were two classroom sessions and three field trips.

There was a leader (Chris-not pictured), myself, and 4 students (Cary, David, Eric, and Ilene). These are pictures from our first field day, where students learned about rock climbing protection. Passive vs. Active, judging the strength of the protection placement, when to place, spacing of the placing, and anchor systems.
Chris is a very good instructor. The students were definitely in good hands! (more…)

Brenda and I climbed at Capitalist Crag. She was the rope gun for the day, leading Lunch Money (5.9+), Cheap Labor (5.10a), and Mounty (5.7+). We had a fun time. The weather flip flopped between bursts of bright sun and dark clouds with gusts of wind. We finished around 3pm. (more…)
Rock Climbing – Clear Creek Canyon, Canal Zone
Sunday, May 29th, 2011

On Sunday, I went to Canal Zone to climb with Jenny & Ryan. We met in the morning and had a lovely walk to the crag. We were the first to the moderates! Woo-hoo!

We climbed Box of Rain (5.8), Ripple (5.8), and Ryan did Made in the Shade (5.9). I just wanted to take it easy, and enjoy being with Jenny & Ryan. So, when the obnoxious crowds came later in the day, I just felt like leaving. Besides, it started getting hot-time to bail!
