Dennis and I attended the annual Waffles and Ski day up at Snow Mountain Ranch at YMCA of the Rockies. Dan’s waffles were extraordinaire, as always! After the sumptuous breakfast, we broke out into indivual groups to either cross country ski or snowshoe. Team Clearly Elk (an anagram of Clare and Kelly) competed in our first snowshoe orienteering contest. The contest was hosted by the Rocky Mountain Orienteering Club (RMOC), whom I met a few weeks prior at the Frisco Nordic center. They invited me to attend this event at Devil’s Thumb Ranch, so I was happy when Kelly said she’d join me. Off to experience the next adventure! (more…)
Aga, Chris, Kat, Dennis, and I went snowshoe hiking along the Two Elk Trail out of Minturn, CO. We started hiking around noon and finished at 4pm. It was a slightly gray wintery day with wind gusts towards late afternoon. (more…)
Kat, Dennis, and I spent Monday afternoon snowshoeing around Beaver Creek, while Kat’s brother, Mikolaj, skiied. We all had a superb day. Weather was exactly what you’d expect mid winter! (more…)
