On the coldest of the last 10 days, Jenny and I decided we were ready for some rock climbing outside. We naturally sought out the coldest possible crag…Canal Zone. In the parking lot, we felt the shady side of a boulder (as a sample of what the crag would be like) to see if climbing was possible. Off to the crag! (more…)
Rock Climbing – Clear Creek, High Wire

On Wednesday, Jenny & I took a midweek breather at High Wire Crag. Turns out there were 6 other people who did the same…for a warm spring day, I was not surprised!
We climbed Nickels and Dimes (5.8*), then Pony Up (5.8*), and finished the half day on Stone Cold Moderate (5.7**). Great day of climbing. Jenny learned how to clean anchors; a real accomplishment. It got really cold around 2pm, so we decided to leave.
Munching granny smiths on the way back to Denver I thought, “I can’t wait for summer!!!”. From the smile on Jenny’s face, I think she was feeling the same. Climbing on Real Rock is the Best!!!
Rock Climbing – Eldorado Canyon, West Ridge

On Saturday, Jenny & I climbed at the West Ridge in Eldorado Canyon. It was forecasted to be mid 50, so I was psyched to get out. I hadn’t been climbing in Eldo in over a year (due to my back injury last summer). I could barely contain my excitement.
We both managed to fall into the creek on the way to the wall, but it was worth the wetness. We were the first to Washington Irving (5.6)! Right after we got there, scads of people arrived and all had to move on up the ridge because *we* were *first*!

Rock Climbing – North Table Mountain, Golden, CO

On Saturday morning, I woke up early and joined Jenny in a birthday run. We ran around her place, near downtown Denver. It was a Ghetto style run, but also featured a long stretch adjacent to the Platte River. (What a treat that was!). We ran for about 45 minutes, a great way to start the day. (more…)
